THE QUICK INTRODUCTION
What’s it all about?
FTL turns a spaceship into a collection of problems that share the same resources. Power sent to weapons cannot also supply another system, and crew members repairing damage are unavailable elsewhere. Pausing combat gives you time to decide which emergency is likely to become fatal first.
Travelling between beacons adds decisions that combat cannot settle. Events, supplies and possible rewards affect how much risk your ship can afford before the next sector. A successful encounter may still leave a repair bill that changes the route ahead. Runs can end permanently, so this is for players who accept setbacks as part of learning. Check the official graphics notes before choosing it for an older integrated-GPU machine.
