THE QUICK INTRODUCTION
What’s it all about?
Opus Magnum asks you to build a machine that transforms supplied materials into the required product. Arms, tracks and timed instructions must cooperate, making a working solution a satisfying mechanical sequence. The open-ended layout leaves room for very different answers to the same task.
First make a design function reliably, then decide which measure you want to improve. A smaller machine is not always a faster one, and optimisation can become a separate project. It suits players who enjoy constructing systems and explaining why a particular arrangement works rather than finding one prescribed move sequence.
