Status: Reported — Not Officially Confirmed

Grand Theft Auto VI could arrive on PC between January and March 2027, according to a new report citing four industry sources. Rockstar Games has not shared an official release date for the PC version of GTA 6.

A new report suggests that GTA 6 could launch on PC during the first quarter of 2027, potentially bringing Rockstar’s next open-world crime game to computer players much sooner than its previous major releases.

GamesBeat reported on October 13, 2026, that Rockstar Games is targeting January through March 2027 for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI. The publication attributed the information to four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans.

That would place the PC launch only a few months after the confirmed November 19, 2026, release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

There is an important distinction, however: Rockstar has not officially announced the PC version or confirmed the reported release window. For now, early 2027 remains a reported target rather than a date players can rely on.

What Does the New GTA 6 PC Release Report Actually Say?

According to GamesBeat journalist Alexander Lee, four individuals with knowledge of Rockstar’s plans indicated that the company intends to release GTA 6 on PC during the first three months of 2027.

The sources were not named, reportedly because they wanted to protect their professional relationships. GamesBeat also stated that Rockstar did not respond to its request for comment before the article was published.

Having multiple sources behind a report gives the claim more substance than an anonymous social-media prediction. However, the report should not be treated as confirmation from Rockstar itself.

The report identifies a release window but does not provide a specific launch day. It also does not establish whether Rockstar has finalized its PC development schedule.

The distinction matters because a development target can change before a company publicly commits to it.

GTA 6 Release Dates: What Is Confirmed and What Is Reported?

PlatformRelease windowCurrent status
PlayStation 5November 19, 2026Confirmed
Xbox Series X/SNovember 19, 2026Confirmed
PCJanuary–March 2027Reported, unconfirmed

Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI website continues to identify PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as the release platforms.

Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, also listed those consoles in its August 7, 2026, financial results and upcoming release schedule. PC was not included in that listing.

The new information is therefore the reported PC launch target, not a change to Rockstar’s publicly confirmed platform lineup.

An Early 2027 PC Launch Would Break Rockstar’s Previous Pattern

Rockstar has traditionally taken considerably longer to bring its major open-world releases to computers.

Grand Theft Auto V debuted on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17, 2013, while PC players had to wait until April 14, 2015, nearly 19 months after the console launch.

Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar approach. Its console edition arrived on October 26, 2018, while PC players received the game on November 5, 2019.

By comparison, a GTA 6 PC release between January and March 2027 would mean waiting approximately six weeks to four and a half months after the November 2026 console launch.

That would be a substantial change in turnaround time.

The comparison also explains why this report deserves attention. Previous Rockstar releases gave PC owners good reason to prepare for a longer wait, even though that history never guaranteed GTA 6 would follow the same schedule.

Whether Rockstar can deliver the shorter turnaround described by GamesBeat is still an open question.

Why a Faster PC Release Could Matter Beyond the Campaign

An earlier PC launch would allow more people to experience GTA 6 without buying a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series console solely for the game.

It could also become significant for creators, modders and role-playing communities that have grown around Grand Theft Auto V.

In August 2023, Rockstar brought Cfx.re, the team associated with the FiveM and RedM role-playing platforms, into the company. That decision demonstrated Rockstar’s interest in supporting established creator communities.

A relatively early GTA 6 PC version could provide another route for those communities to engage with the new game.

Still, the release-date report should not be mistaken for confirmation of FiveM support, modding tools, custom servers or GTA 6 role-playing features. Rockstar has not established those capabilities through this reported PC schedule.

For anyone hoping to build content around GTA 6 on PC, platform availability and creator-tool support remain separate questions.

PC System Requirements, Steam Availability and Pricing Remain Unknown

Even if GamesBeat’s timeline proves accurate, several practical details are still missing.

Rockstar has not yet disclosed the minimum or recommended PC hardware requirements for GTA 6. There is also no confirmed PC launch price or announced distribution plan identifying which PC storefronts will carry the game.

That leaves prospective buyers without reliable answers about minimum hardware, recommended graphics cards, installation requirements or potential PC-exclusive features.

It would be premature to recommend upgrading a graphics card or purchasing an entirely new gaming PC based on specifications circulating online without Rockstar’s confirmation.

Likewise, the GamesBeat report does not confirm whether Steam, Epic Games Store or Rockstar’s own launcher will be available on day one.

Those details will matter just as much as the eventual release date for many PC buyers.

Should PC Players Expect GTA 6 in Early 2027?

The October 13 report offers a more specific potential window than Rockstar’s public statements currently provide. Its claim of four industry sources makes it worth following, but the lack of an official announcement remains decisive.

From a player’s perspective, the choice is straightforward: those planning to experience GTA 6 immediately can look to the confirmed console launch, while PC-only players should wait for a formal platform announcement before treating early 2027 as settled.

Rockstar has already revised GTA 6’s console schedule during development, so there is no guarantee that an internally planned PC target, if accurate, will remain unchanged.

The next meaningful development would be Rockstar publicly naming PC as a supported platform, ideally alongside a release window and technical details.

Until that happens, January–March 2027 is a credible published claim, not a confirmed GTA 6 PC release date.
