Palworld Update 1.0.4 Adds New Missions — Here’s Where to Start

Palworld update 1.0.4 adds Beyond Dimensions and From the Far Side of the Moon alongside major Pal, fishing, base, performance and progression changes.

Palworld update 1.0.4 is now live, bringing two new sub-missions, changes to Pal combat behavior, fishing adjustments, base improvements and a long list of fixes across the game.

For players jumping back in primarily for the new content, there is one location to remember: Fisherman’s Point in Mount Obsidian. That is where the new questline begins.

Pocketpair released version 1.0.4 on September 7, 2026, continuing its post-1.0 support for Palworld following the game’s full release earlier this summer.

Where to Start the New Palworld Missions

Update 1.0.4 introduces two sub-missions:

  • Beyond Dimensions
  • From the Far Side of the Moon

Players looking for the new content should travel to Fisherman’s Point in Mount Obsidian and find the NPC offering Beyond Dimensions.

That mission comes first.

After completing Beyond Dimensions, players can progress From the Far Side of the Moon, making the two additions a connected sequence rather than two completely independent missions.

It is a useful detail to know before loading an existing save, particularly because the update contains a large number of other changes but does not require players to hunt blindly across the map for the new questline.

Palworld 1.0.4 Makes Pals Smarter in Combat

Some of the more interesting changes aren’t tied directly to the new missions.

Pocketpair has adjusted summoned Pals and Pals working at bases so that they prioritize skills expected to inflict higher damage. The behavior of Base Pals using charging-type skills has also been adjusted.

These changes may sound relatively small compared with adding new content, but they target something players encounter constantly: how effectively their Pals choose and use their abilities.

There are several other Pal-related balance changes as well.

Mission-target Pals and NPCs will no longer fall asleep, while Lapure’s swimming speed and the homing enhancement provided by Lunaris Effigies have been adjusted.

The Work Suitability requirement for gathering Ancient Bark has also been reduced to Level 1, making the resource accessible to a wider range of working Pals.

Fishing Gets a Noticeable Balance Pass

Fishing receives another substantial round of attention in update 1.0.4.

Pocketpair has adjusted the difficulty of fishing spots located in Sunreach and the World Tree area, while also changing how many items players receive from successful fishing depending on the bait being used.

The update additionally improves control guides, warnings and recommended-equipment information displayed while fishing.

Players who want more control over the mechanic can also use a newly added World Setting for Fish Behavior During Fishing Minigames.

Together, these changes make fishing one of the more heavily adjusted systems in the patch rather than simply a side activity receiving isolated bug fixes.

Bases and Building Receive Useful Quality-of-Life Changes

Base management also gets several practical improvements.

Materials returned after cancelling work at production facilities will now go directly back into the player’s inventory.

Pocketpair has similarly adjusted what happens when construction is cancelled or a structure is dismantled while the option preventing automatic pickup beyond the player’s weight limit is active. Returned materials within the limit can be collected normally, while excess materials are dropped nearby.

One particularly welcome change involves campfires: players and their Pals will no longer catch fire simply by coming into contact with player-built Campfires.

Server administrators also gain a new setting allowing them to establish a per-player limit on how many buildings can be placed in the world.

Palpedia Search and Other UI Improvements

Update 1.0.4 includes a deceptively useful improvement for players with an increasingly large Pal collection: Palpedia can now be searched by name.

Pocketpair has also expanded Work Suitability explanations in the Pal status and Palpedia interfaces.

Bounty Token notifications now display additional passive-effect and item-description information, while PS5 players can open chat through the Radial Menu.

On PC, the default frame-rate cap has been changed to 120 FPS.

Version mismatch messages have also been improved so they show the version being used by the connection target, which should make diagnosing some multiplayer connection problems easier.

Performance, Multiplayer and Progression Fixes

A significant portion of 1.0.4 is devoted to stability and bug fixing rather than new content.

Pocketpair says it reduced processing load associated with certain rendering operations, foliage and effects. The update also targets stuttering caused by some passive skills and reduces rendering load in areas including the World Tree.

Several crash scenarios have been addressed as well, including crashes related to fishing, NPC dialogue and riding, long mission descriptions, and Pal sorting on servers.

Multiplayer receives its own collection of fixes. Among them are issues that could cause joining co-op players to fail to enter the host’s guild correctly or allow the host’s mission to progress when another player entered a mission progression area.

Voice Chat settings and Arena targeting have also received fixes.

Important Mission and Progression Bugs Have Been Addressed

For players already working through Palworld’s main missions, some fixes may be more important than the headline additions.

Pocketpair has fixed a progression problem in which the World Tree Guardian could fail to appear later in the Main Mission if Panthalus had been defeated before the player reached the appropriate stage of the story.

The early Crafting an Axe and a Pickaxe mission has also been corrected so players who already owned or had equipped the required tools before accepting the objective can still progress properly.

Other fixes address NPC dialogue becoming unavailable under specific circumstances and incorrect or lingering mission markers.

These are exactly the sort of changes that can matter more to an affected player than a balance adjustment because they remove situations capable of interrupting normal progression.

Combat and Passive Skills Get Several Fixes

Update 1.0.4 also resolves multiple problems involving combat mechanics, Partner Skills and Passive Skills.

The defense bonus from the Lucky passive was not activating correctly and has now been fixed. Mercy Hit also had an issue when attacks were performed by Pals while the player was riding.

Pocketpair has additionally corrected problems involving Killamari Primo’s Partner Skill levels, mutated stats associated with Grintale’s Passive Skill, and the Idiosyncratic mutation passive.

Combat fixes cover everything from skill cooldown behavior and Arena revivals to Raid Boss behavior and attacks passing through walls.

Combined with the new skill-prioritization behavior for summoned Pals, this makes combat one of the areas receiving the broadest mechanical cleanup in 1.0.4.

Why Palworld 1.0.4 Matters

Version 1.0.4 isn’t another expansion-sized update, but it is more substantial than its “Balance Adjustments & Bug Fixes” label initially suggests.

The two new missions give returning players an immediate piece of content to pursue, while many of the underlying changes focus on systems players interact with repeatedly: Pal combat AI, fishing, bases, multiplayer, exploration and mission progression.

That is particularly relevant following Palworld’s full 1.0 release in July 2026, when the game officially left Early Access. Continued patches like 1.0.4 show Pocketpair moving beyond the launch itself and addressing the systems and progression issues that emerge as players work through the full game.

For anyone returning specifically for the September update, the quickest route is simple: install version 1.0.4, head to Fisherman’s Point in Mount Obsidian, and look for the NPC who starts Beyond Dimensions.

Completing it opens the path forward to From the Far Side of the Moon.
