Darkwood connects daytime exploration with the practical work of surviving after dark. Supplies found outside become tools for preparing a hideout, but returning safely can be a challenge of its own. The overhead view leaves enough uncertainty that a familiar room does not automatically feel secure.
Plan an expedition around what your shelter needs rather than filling the inventory without a purpose. Choosing when to return is as meaningful as choosing where to search. It suits players who enjoy oppressive atmosphere, preparation and the slow discovery of a strange world that resists easy explanations.
