THE QUICK INTRODUCTION
What’s it all about?
Undertale gives conversation a mechanical role in an encounter. Fighting is available, but understanding a monster’s behaviour can open another way to resolve the meeting. When an enemy acts, you move through an attack pattern, so decisions in a menu share space with moments that require direct control.
The tone moves between jokes, tension and more serious consequences. Paying attention to dialogue matters, and describing every possible outcome would take away much of the reason to discover it yourself. This entry keeps those outcomes unspoiled. It is a compact RPG for players interested in characters and choices, with a combat system that asks for more than selecting a command and watching an animation.
Your kind of game if…
