THE QUICK INTRODUCTION

What’s it all about?

Pillars of Eternity follows a Watcher whose unusual relationship with souls opens a route into a troubled world. You assemble a party, explore locations and make choices in conversations as well as combat. Its setting gives those choices context through histories, beliefs and competing interests.

Battles can be paused to issue orders, so success need not depend on giving every instruction at speed. Position, party composition and the order of abilities deserve consideration before a difficult encounter begins. It is a good fit for readers who enjoy substantial fantasy writing alongside tactical systems. This entry covers the first Pillars of Eternity, with expansions dependent on the purchased edition.
